Saving money and helping the environment with custom designed sheds

Many Australians may be interested in incorporating green building practices into the construction of their commercial sheds but are unsure of how to do so.

Fortunately, the Australian government has made it easier to help the environment and your bank account at the same time.

Depending on where you live, there is likely some kind of program that benefits from the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES).

"The Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme creates a financial incentive for owners to install eligible small-scale installations such as solar water heaters, heat pumps, solar panel systems, small-scale wind systems, or small-scale hydro systems," states the Australian government's Clean Energy Regulator website.

"It does this by legislating demand for Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs). STCs are created for these installations according to the amount of electricity they produce or displace."

Savings and eco-friendly benefits across the country

In New South Wales, owners of custom designed sheds can connect a solar photovoltaic system or wind turbine to the electricity grid and cut down on electricity costs by getting payments for any excess energy exported to the grid.

We here at Shed Boss can help you design how your shed will incorporate things like solar panels on the roof in order to secure future savings and help the environment.

Meanwhile, if you're planning on installing a hot water heater in your custom designed shed in Victoria, you could benefit from the Victorian Energy Efficiency Target (VEET), which awards Victorian Energy Efficiency Certificates to customers who replace their hot water system with a solar powered version/system.

You can save money further since certain businesses are able to provide discounts and special offers on specific energy-saving products and appliances under the scheme.
